When I was first contacted by Molly about the maternity session, it was such a short notice. Their scheduled photographer didn’t show up the day of the session and they needed someone quick to fill in. Luckily, I was able to move things around to fit them in because only two days after our maternity session Molly went into labor. I am also super glad that we were able to make it work because I got to meet the sweetest couple ever and we didn’t miss out on capturing these very precious memories.

About the Maternity Session

Molly and Manju picked the Lafayette Reservoir as their location for the maternity photoshoot. Normally the Lafayette Reservoir is not my first choice but in this case, it was the only right choice for the couple. They got married there a year prior and for them the Lafayette Reservoir is a special place. During the entire session these two acted like they are still on their honeymoon. It was so obvious to me how much love is between them. Also, during this session, I’ve grown to love this location and now it will definitely be on my list of favorite spots. I especially loved going close to the water’s edge and getting those beautiful sunset shots. The session was so easy for me and I really enjoyed Molly and Manju’s company and once it was all over, I was so excited to meet their baby girl.

About the Newborn Session

Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait that long until their baby was born. Exactly two days after our maternity session, Molly delivered a very healthy and beautiful baby girl. Newborn photo session was scheduled soon after and it was photographed at their beautiful home in the Orinda hills.

Side Note

I’ve been hearing lately terrible stories about professional photographers not being so professional. For example, I have friends who did the session but never got their photos afterwards or in this case where photographer never even showed up to the session. Imagine being all dressed up with make-up and ready to go and then your photographer is a no show. To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, please please please do your homework. Research the photographer and read his/her reviews. Also, it’s a good idea to put down the deposit and sign a contract. There is a lot of us out there which makes the right choice that much more difficult. Family mementos such as images documenting special events in one’s lives have to be important to photographer as much as they are to you.

This Berkeley Rose Garden maternity and family photo session was so much fun. Little Lucia showed off her really fun personality and I was so glad to be there to experience it. At one point during the session Lucia, on her own accord, picked up two leaves off the ground and started dancing as if she was a cheerleader. It was such a spontaneous moment and it made me and her parents smile from ear to ear.

This family is expecting a little boy really soon so this was in a way the last professional photoshoot for them before they become party of four. The special moments between Lucia and her parents and her excitement of soon becoming a big sister are such sweet memories. Down the road, this family will be looking at these images with nostalgia and talk about them for years to come.

My job as a photographer is much more then delivering a beautiful gallery of images. I consider myself to be a documentarian. With the clicks of my shutter, I am freezing time and telling a story of my client’s life.

About the Location

Berkeley Rose Garden is a beautiful place located in a residential area of the Berkeley Hills. It is a city owned park which is nestled in a small canyon. I particularly like the forest grove like setting with beautiful steps and wooden bridges.

Fleeting Moments | Precious Memories

It was a lovely but slightly chilly Wednesday afternoon when I met my clients Kayla and Darius for their maternity photoshoot. Lands End and Sutro Baths are two of my favorite locations in San Francisco for maternity photography so I was super excited to shoot another session there.

About the Couple

The session started with the warmest hugs which set the tone up for one of the best photoshoots I ever had. Instantly, I felt like we were best of friends. Kayla and Darius are both ER doctors who made San Francisco their permanent home. With such busy schedules it was slightly challenging to find a couple of hours of free time but I am so glad we did. They are expecting their first child and if you look at these images you can feel the love and excitement for what is to come radiating through.

About the Location

As I mentioned before Sutro Baths and Lands End are two of my favorite locations in the San Francisco Bay Area for maternity photography and they happen to be adjacent to each other. We started of in the Land End area by walking through cypress trees towards the coast then we walked through the Sutro Baths ruins down towards the beach. It’s a great location but it can be chilly and very windy. In this case, Kayla was super brave in her beautiful dress and she didn’t even mind having to tie her hair back when needed. Also, it is not the easiest of terrains but both Kayla and Darius were ready for the adventure.

I can’t wait to meet their little one really soon.

Their dog Desilu was super excited to be in the photos.
