FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

When I found out my dear friend Maya and her husband were expecting, I was so excited. I photographed their wedding eight years ago and now I got to capture these quiet and special moments before their first child arrives.  Maya's idea was to photograph at her home to which I was absolutely delighted.  In the true Balkan way, first we enjoyed our coffees and then got to business. The entire session was so relaxed and really fun.

About the Session

I love everything about this intimate at home maternity session.  The light that poured through the windows was perfect. It created stunning silhouettes as well as beautiful soft portraits.  The dresses that Maya wore perfectly showed off her beautiful bump. She looked absolutely gorgeous. 

I can't wait to meet their little one. Enjoy!

Fleeting Moments | Precious Memories

And there were three!  As a lifestyle photographer, I relish in documenting stories and creating memories for my clients, and I love connecting maternity and newborn sessions together into one post.  Even now, as I am writing this blog, I feel so excited because my job is essentially visual storytelling and these two sessions were like a dream. I had the pleasure of photographing Anita and Joe's maternity session and I was super excited to photograph their newborn session as well.  It is so amazing to see two people who are clearly so in love with each other embark onto their new role as parents.

About the Sessions

For the maternity session we chose the beautiful Montrose Harbor which was in full bloom at the time.  Anita looked radiant and was so comfortable in front of my camera. Towards the end of the session we walked over to the beach.  The entire session's flow was just easy.  I enjoyed getting to know Anita and Joe and was so excited to meet their little one.

My newborn sessions are usually a nice mix of classic and lifestyle. I love letting my clients enjoy their brand new baby, cuddle, kiss and hug while I, in an unobtrusive manner, photograph. On the other hand, I also like to get those close up, more classic portraits.  Catching little details, yawns and stretches is also very important to me. The details complete the story in a lot of ways. Baby Evan was just a cutie and  such a joy to photograph.

FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

It is always an honor to photograph professionals who are creative and in the same business realm as myself.  Cali is a super talented caligrapher  while her husband is a Chicago based lifestyle photographer .  They just got back from their baby moon in Greece and wanted to do their maternity photo session in downtown Chicago. I am so glad they've chosen me because the two hours we spent together were so fun and didn't feel like work at all.

About The Session

For this maternity session we decided to start at the beautiful Lurie Garden which is an urban oasis of Chicago and then walk over to the River Walk. On the way we made an unexpected stop at the South Garden of the Art Institute of Chicago which turned out to be such a hidden gem. So lush and green.

Photographing in this city is so inspiring. Wherever you turn there is a picture perfect setting.  On top of it, I got to witness and document with my camera how madly in love Cali and JD are and just how excited they are about their first child.
