FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

Baby is on the way and the pregnancy glow is a real thing. Those are the two real facts about this maternity session that I photographed a few weeks back at the Tilden Park. It was a perfect evening with the sweetest couple. They are about to become first time parents and they could not be more excited.  I also loved meeting their new dog Rusty who they adopted just a few weeks prior. 

About the Location

The time is almost here for Jamie and Matt to enter the joy's of parenthood and for this maternity photoshoot they picked one of their most favorite locations in Bay Area (Lake Anza, Tilden Park).  As the sun was going down we weaved carefully around the lake discovering together it's beautiful pockets that made a stunning backdrop for our images.

As soon as I walked through the door of Kelsey and Jason's beautiful Oakland Hills home I was certain that our maternity and newborn session will turn out gorgeous. The home itself is decorated throughout with mid century modern style which is my favorite. Beautiful windows and abundance of character adorned this beautifully decorated interior. Jason and Kelsey are such a beautiful couple who welcomed me into their home with open arms.  They wanted low key photos which show their true personalities.  As a lifestyle photographer, that is exactly what I love to hear.  It fueled my creativity even more. 

Jason and Kelsey shared such a cute story with me about how they realized once they started dating that they actually attended the same preschool in San Jose.  It is one of those stories that you read about in feel-good articles online.  Jason recognized an expression Kelsey used that was very specific to the preschool he attended as a child and soon after they realized that they were there together playing with legos and learning ABC's.  They even showed me the photos to prove it. How cute is that?! 

About the Newborn Session

A few weeks following our session, I got the call that baby Falcon arrived. I was so excited to meet him finally.  He arrived little later then everyone expected.  He is such a handsome and beautiful baby boy. I loved being a witness to these such special moments of being first time parents for Jason and Kelsey. To say that they are smitten with Falcon would be an understatement.  The session was a breeze and Falcon was a joy to photograph.

Location

Prior to the maternity session we brainstormed ideas on where to photograph. Oakland has so many great locations but in the end we picked a perfect location, their beautiful home in Oakland Hills. The home is set on hill in such a cute neighborhood.  Both, interior of the home and exterior (the backyard) were perfect for taking photos.  I definitely wanted to explore both areas and take advantage of beautiful mid century decor throughout.

FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

I met this gorgeous mama and her family a few years ago through a mutual friend of ours. Life tends to always get in the way and our mutual friend moved away to the East Coast so we really havent's seen each other in a while. I was super excited to hear that Amanda's second baby is on the way and that she wanted me to capture these special moments.  My sessions allow me to reconnect and spend extra time with friends who I don't get to see that often. Plus, I get to meet a little baby boy very soon.  Basically, my job is awesome.

About the Family

Amanda and Alex are some of the sweetest people I ever had a chance to photograph.  They were both natural in front of the camera and were playful and even goofy at times. Also, their little girl Olivia was such a ham during the entire session. Capturing her personality was super easy. At one point, I completely switched to just photographing her. Our maternity session got taken over by this adorable mini model and we went along with it.  She was doing her poses and it was so cute and fun. One thing is for sure, there was not one dull moment during the two hours we spent together.  

Did I mention, Amanda looked stunning! The entire time, I was literally in awe of her pregnancy glow and beauty and could not contain my constant compliments. 

About the Location

For this maternity session we've decided that Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek is a perfect location. Borges Ranch has been around since the late 19th century and it's actually a historic site that is open to visitors. It's one of the favorite locations for photographers here in Walnut Creek and rightfully so.  Amanda wanted a natural yet rustic feel to her maternity photos and Borges Ranch delivers on both those fronts.  Surrounding hills and trails were covered in green which just added even more beauty. We even spotted some deer during our session.
